Glasgow University, final year student completing degree May 2013. Working part time in backing and schooling yard, all aspects of horse care from yard work to exercise riding, hacking, schooling, groundwork and backing.
I have experience working in livery yards, small family run trekking centre and riding schools to large equestrian centres. I have worked with a variety of people learning to ride, from ages 4 to adults, including those with physical and learning difficulties. In previous roles my responsibilities have included daily running of the yard, office and admin work, organising lessons and activities, taking bookings, greeting clients and liasing with suppliers. I worked with large groups of children, planning and running 'Own a Pony' days and pony club weeks, one of my favourite aspects of the job. I excel in a busy yard setting and do well managing a small team, thrive in a client facing environment and always maintain a professional can-do attitude in challenging situations. I am currently working in a backing and schooling yard which is my passion.
Groundwork, backing and riding away. I also enjoy teaching and working with people of all ages, including tiny tots and love seeing people progress in their riding. I am also IT literate with basic admin skills and sales experience.
All groundwork skills including lungeing, long reining and ride and lead. I have experience backing, starting and riding away as well as the work with problem horses and ponies. In previous roles I started, brought on and schooled several ponies and horses, for sale and for the showring. I am a competent, sensitive rider with a decent standard of flat work small and balanced enough for ponies upwards.
I have been an active member of the Pony Club taking part in schooling rallies, XC and SJ. I have competed in Working Hunter and Show Hunter up to County level, qualifying for Blair Horse Trials and Scottish Masters. Also competed with Highlands in hand and ridden classes. I have competed in unaffiliated SJ up to 1.05m. I can turnout to a high standard, having groomed for clients in showing up to RHS level and BE.
