Duties of current occupation

All standard Groom duties: feeding, stalls, maintaining the general health of the horses. Turning out/in of paddocks and walker machines, cleaning tack & grooming for Grand Prix level horses (although not as a GP groom), wash, clip & bandage etc.

Equine work experience

Have been riding from the age of 10, although never competed. Have not ridden regularly for 8 years due to serving in HM Forces and other non-equine related industries.

Last year I worked on a commercial (standard breed) stud-farm as a stud-hand in Tuscany, Italy. This was a temp summer job for 3 months. A great experience where I also got to watch the Palio di Siena with a box view.

After my 3 months was up, I secured a full time Groom position working for a German horse transport (air-cargo) company based in NW Germany. Here I handled a variety of horses from Arabian to Dutch Warmblood. Also home to a prominent German Grand Prix rider, I was able to groom for Herr Glies for a short period whilst covering his Show-Groom vacancy (now filled), attending a small number of shows with him.

I'm now back in the UK & very keen to find a Groom/Rider position, or apprentice Rider position. I would like to find a post that includes riding tuition from a professional.

Specialities

Changing Specialities to 'Weaknesses' here:

- I need to get my riding skills back up to scratch after years out of the saddle. So do need on the job tuition if working in a professional competition yard.

- I do also need to find an employer who is happy to be patient whilst I get my lunging in, as I've oddly not had the opportunity whilst working with horses in Europe.

Type of ride work

School, flatwork & hack. As stated, looking for the position where I can enhance my riding skills whilst taking care of all the usual groom work. I am aiming to learn all that I can from any discipline, whether thats on another stud-farm or dressage, show or eventing yard.... After months of handling horses all day every day, without any riding, and now turing 26, I'm chomping at the bit to get cracking.

Competition details

Have not competed in the past. However, very keen to do so in the future, in any discipline I can get my hands on!

Key Skills

Riding; Driving license; First-Aid; Handling Youngstock; Bandaging; Clipping.
