Job Description

A show jumping groom to work with a family owned barn. Daily care of horses to include grooming, feeding, tacking up of horses etc. Preparation of horses for competition to include plaiting and pulling of manes and clipping as necessary. Knowledge of show jumping essential. Assist with building of jump exercises and setting up for shows at facility. Ability to drive a trailer an asset.

Requirements

Must be fluent in English and must be prepared to live in Barbados. No family may accompany the person to live here. Contract will be annual with option for renewal

Required Skills

Driving license; Drive Horsebox; Equine First-Aid; Lunging; Plaiting; Clipping; Trim/Pull.

The Facility

We are a registered equestrian centre and are a private barn that is family owned. We have two sections of polo and show jumping. We have our children show jumping and two adult competitors and nine show jumpers which range from ponies to imported 1.45m jumpers. We have about thirty polo horses. There is a polo field, there is a sand arena that is 45m x 30m and a new all weather arena that is 100m x 45m for show jumping. Turn out paddocks and accommodation on site. There is a polo manager and a show jumping trainer both with international backgrounds. The facility is 22 acres in size.
