Job Description

Groom required to help out with show jumpers and hunters, as well as hounds. My Fiance has a team of show jumpers which she starts her self and generally sells on. She is a full time accountant so requires a groom to help do covers, feed, catch, tack up and assist with exercising horses. She also would like someone who is prepared to help out at horse shows throughout the summer.
I am the huntsman here at Pakuranga Hunt. We are situated around 40minutes from Auckland city, and live on 35 acres here at the kennels. The showjumping season runs from Sept - March, with the hunt season from late March until July.
Melissa usually has between 4 and 6 show jumpers in work, and come January the 4 or 5 hunters we also have will come into work. We exercise the hounds a couple of times a week from January until the beginning of the hunt season.
We are looking for someone who has an interest in horses and hounds and who is prepared to work hard - however we are flexible with hours and travel plans. We also require the applicant to be a very capable rider, as they will be required to ride horses at home, on the beach, forest, possibly showjumping and hunting where we jump many fences.

Day to day duties would involve changing covers in the morning, feeding horses, general stable jobs during the day, tacking up in the afternoon and assisting with exercising the show jumpers in the evening when Melissa gets home from work. Also from January working the hunters, as well as helping with hounds some of the time.
We do expect things to be kept immaculate and tidy around the property.

We are very social and you would have the chance to meet alot of horse/ hound like minded people. We provide an out door room (it has the basics - double bed, couch, TV, fully furnished), food and transport.

If you are interested in applying, we would like to do a skype interview as well as see a you tube video of you riding if possible.

The Facility

I am a full time huntsman and my fiance is an Accountant and showjumping rider. We breed, break and bring on horses for showjumping and hunting, as well as run my hunt horses and Melissa's show jumpers, also occasionally some agistment horses. The horses are bred and broken in Gisborne on the hills and then sent up here to finish. We live on the 40 acre hunt property with a pack of hounds and our horses and dogs. We have stables, yards and jumps on the property, and Melissa travels most weekend during the Summer to shows and I during the Winter to the hunts.
