Job Description
Show groom needed to manage the show jumping horses and travel to shows for one of the top show jumping stables in NZ. Position available as of December 1st /2011. Team of 15-20 horses travelling to all major shows in the country. Young Horses, (4-7yr olds), stallions, and performance horses up to Grand Prix. Will be responsible only for show horses as we have a barn manager already
who will be taking care of the home farm. With TRUCK LICENSE Will be better. 1 groom for every 4 horses so proper focus is given to every horse individually at the shows. Two riders, one professional and one young rider, that you will work with. A gorgeous farm with a very competitive string of horses. There are pleasure horses available to be ridden on your own time. This position is available as a seasonal or fulltime position.
Requirements
truck license equivalent to or greater than Class 2 in NZ (2 axle under 16000kg), or must have extensive expérience.
Required Skills
Driving license; HGV license; Drive Horsebox; Handling Youngstock; Lunging; Bandaging; Plaiting; Clipping; Trim/Pull.
Required Expertise
Dressage; Eventing; Showing; Show Jumping.
Accommodation
Live-in position shared with 2 other grooms, nice 3 bedroom house.
Benefits
Salary depends on experience and references. One of the most competitive stables in NZ and frequent travel to shows (2-3 weekends a month) allows you to see a good portion of the country. We attend shows on both the North and South Island.
The Facility
We have a lovely, well kept 60 acre farm, 30 minutes south of Auckland, where we breed and produce quality warmblood horses for showjumping.There is a 3 bedroom fully equipped house for grooms complete with tv, internet and landline. Our facillites include 2 arenas,15 stables, grass track(approx 3/4 km) and horsewalker, we also have the option of riding on the beach occasionally. We have 45 horse from foals to 12 years old.
