Job Description

We are a small friendly yard set in a rural part of Northern Ireland near Ballyclare. We have around 20 horses and ponies some of which we use to teach but mostly who are produced and placed in permanent homes. The role will be to keep an eye on our 2 children (aged 8 and 9) and keep the house in reasonable order. You will be free to ride as much as you like in your own time and may take one of our horses as your own project to bring on. Your accomodation and food will be provided along with a small wage and you can certainly train towards bhs exams while you are here. we are looking for someone who is genuinely enthusiastic and is prepared to commit completely to doing the job to the best of thier ability. We have other girls in the yard so there is plenty of fun and friendship to be had. Age or sex is immaterial and we would consider a couple if they had the right skills.

Requirements

You need to bring with you Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, patience, and a sense of humour.
Everything else we can teach you along the way!

Required Skills

Handling Youngstock.

Required Expertise

Working with children.

Accommodation

You will initially have a room of your own in our large family home and ultimately if you stay long term you may have your own appartment in our yard.

Benefits

You will leave our yard having gained an enormous amount of experience with young horses and the different ways of dealing with them. You will have credible references from a respected establishment. You will have made friends that will be with you for life and you will experience life here in Ireland with all the fun hard work and that involves.

The Facility

We have a small Yard in Northern Ireland where we break and school young horses and do a small amount of teaching. The atmosphere is fun and informal but the right person needs to be practical and enjoy seeing horses progress and improve. We have 17 stables and a 40 x 20 outdoor arena. We also hire nearby x-country and showjumping courses to bring the horses to the level required.
The right individual will have the opportunity to bring their own horse if they wish or take one of my horses as their own personal project to compete on etc.
