Job Description

Our private competition yard is in need of a fully competent groom(s), to work with fit competition horses, ranging from 14hh to 17hh. Applicants must be fit, reliable, conscientious, hardworking, dedicated, trustworthy and work well in a team.

Duties include mucking out, grooming, tack cleaning, turning horses in and out, lunging, tacking up / untacking horses, etc. Must work confidently and correctly to a high level of competency. Sixteen stabled horses, with the duties shared between three full time grooms.

You may share with our other grooms the duties of being a travelling groom, so must therefore be prepared to work weekends, as the travelling groom or as the yard grooms left behind to manage the yard.

Limited riding of owner's horses available, if capable.

Own horse welcome, with ample opportunity to ride him/her. Sorry no pets allowed.

Shared centrally heated cottage accommodation provided.

5.5 day week (full time).

Standard holiday entitlement.

Requirements

Must be honest, reliable, cheerful, and work in an efficient and calm manner around the horses. These horses are well mannered so I expect the staff to be handle them in a kind manner also - we do not tolerate heavy handed or rough handling at this yard.

PLEASE NO; DRUG USERS, THEIVES, DRAMA QUEENS, BULLIES, HOME SICK CRY BABIES, NO CRIMINAL RECORDS - This is a nice yard with nice horses & people and we intend to keep it so. Must be honest, loyal and trustworthy. With up to date references.

Shared centrally heated cottage accommodation available. Sky TV, Internet access.

The Facility

Private Yard primarily for endurance but also for showing and dressage. World class dressage and endurance blood lines.

· 2 internal yards, the newly built 16 box internal yard, and the original 11 box internal yard.
· 1 all weather lunging arena.
· 2 sand turnout / exercise arenas 20m x 20m.
· 1 outdoor arena 25m x 50m.
· 7 large post and railed paddocks.
· Further land fenced into a number of fields.
· Unlimited off road forestry track riding.
· Open hill riding also available.
· Cottage accommodation available (share with one other) or individual flat possibly available.
