Job Description
Working on a high class dealing/schooling yard with some liveries. You need to be efficient and capable of running a busy yard and organise a varying daily schedule. Duties to include routine yard work, but you also need to be a competent and experienced rider capable of schooling/producing a variety of horses (mainly Irish youngsters). That means riding to BHS stage 4 standard and be confident of jumping a novice horse over a decent fence. Qualifications are not necessary but previous experience bringing on a variety of youngsters is, so an established and sympathetic rider with natural feel and talent is needed. You need to know how to teach straightness, outline, self-carriage, balance etc and understand the correct and conventional way of producing a horse from scratch. No draw reins! No harsh fiddling hands or overbent horses - sorry to be so blunt! As there is lots of riding you need to be fit and due to having to ride some young ponies - a lightweight rider is needed. On the yard you need to be very tidy, efficient and thorough with all chores - have an eye for detail and a sound knowledge of stable management. The capablity of working and keeping to a busy schedule is essential. FULL TIME PERMANENT POSITION - LIVE IN ONLY. (Not a holiday job).
Requirements
Must be under 11 st/147lbs/66kg (light enough and suitable height to ride 14hh ponies). Previous experience working full-time on a professional yard essential. You need to be self-motivated and a good leader. Interview and references required. Live-in only. Please do not apply if you are unable to attend an interview or work a paid trial. Overseas applicants must be EU members. Permanent position - to start as soon as possible as I have been let down by the previous suitable applicant.
