Job Description
A fantastic opportunity to join a stable based in the Lambourn Valley for a person who has the passion to want to work with horses and the desire to work in the industry.
As an apprentice, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to attain a Level 2 qualification in Equine Care. The salary offered reflects this as an apprentice wage.
The stable invests in developing its staff and will provide a committed, enthusiastic candidate with a wide range of essential skills and knowledge about horse care and management.
As a working apprentice you will be responsible for daily duties that will include grooming, checking the tack, tacking up (putting on the saddles and bridles) and un-tacking, general maintenance and proper care of horses including recording basic health information, rugging up and bedding down.
The position will include all aspects of being a part of a professional team in a family run riding school environment, including dealing with clients. The stable runs the riding school, along with schooling, breaking, working and competition livery.
Requirements
Attitude and approach are key, we are looking for people with a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to work hard as part of the team that has been developed at The Stable.
A good general standard of education would be preferred but candidates will be subject to an interview. Riding experience is not essential. Prior experience of working in a yard would be beneficial. Skills training will be provided on the job as part of the recognised apprenticeship programme.

There are many pathways available to the successful applicant during and on completion of the apprenticeship in conjunction with further education and training towards specialist subject areas like becoming a BHS Instructor.
The Facility
The yard has its own pony club and dressage academy, they regularly run clinics for flatwork, showjumping and the XC club. For the youngsters they run the horse crazy club along with helper training and they also hold fortnightly competitions in dressage and showjumping which are open to the public. The yard has a range of facilities including 20 x 40 indoor and outdoor schools, horsewalker, american barn stabling which houses 16 horses along with another 11 stables separate to the barn and 15 acres of grazing. This is a family run, friendly yet competitive business that expects commitment from its team.
