Job Description
Working Pupil required for a showjumping yard nr to Whitchurch, Shropshire.
Applicants must have had some previous experience although plenty of on the job training available. Must be a capable rider!
Our yard consists of our team of showjumpers (usually around 8 permanent horses), horses being produced for sale, and broodmares and youngstock.
The job will be varied, and will include day to day stable work, putting horses on and off the horsewalker, grooming, clipping, preparing horses for shows, travelling to shows (as groom) with the horses, usually 2 shows per week. Tacking up horses for rider and untacking/washing off horses after work.
Lunging horses and riding. Travelling to shows in UK and abroad with the horses.
There will be some handling of foals and youngstock, and we also have our own stallion so must be competent enough to work with stallions.
It is a busy yard with usually around 25-30 horses ranging from foals to 20 years old!
We have big ambitions for our team of horses and the yard is growing and developing all of the time, we are looking for people who will become an integral part of the team and who will enjoy seeing the horses progress through the grades.
There will be lots of riding with this position- an excellent opportunity for a young rider to gain experience riding a variety of horses as stock changes constantly. Riding will mainly be working with the sales horses who vary from schoolmasters to just backed youngsters therefore applicant MUST be capable of working with green young horses. Some competing on the sales horses available if capable- upto 1.10m level.
Own horse not a problem, applicants with their own horse can compete regularly if desired on their own horse at whatever level appropriate.
This is a position where you will get out what you put in. 5.5 day week, on site accomodation with all utilities paid for. Own horse no problem. £95/week working pupil wage.
It can be hard work but very rewarding.
Requirements
Cheerful and hard working with a real desire to learn.
Must be a horse lover!
Quiet and patient with horses an absolute must.
A willingness to learn is the most important criteria. Must be cheerful, hardworking, dedicated and MUST love horses! Our horses are our pride and joy and we want to work with people who will put the welfare of the horses as their highest priority.
Must be a capable rider with young green horses.
Preference given for immediate start!

The Facility
Showjumping yard with horses of all Grades from novice to International. We will usually have 2 broodmares, various youngstock, upto 10 showjumping horses and 10+ horses being produced for sale. New facility with excellent facilites including 35 stables, youngstock pens, brand new prowax arena, covered horsewalker, washbays, lunging pen etc We are a growing yard with big ambitions looking for hardworking and dedicated staff to help our yard progress.
