Job Description
We are seeking someone with proven riding experience to train as apprentice riding instructor. The apprenticeship is designed to give the employee the experience and training necessary to successfully complete BHS examinations up to Stage 3 and NVQ up to level 3
Instruction in yard management, horse husbandry and riding are given and all exam fees and expenses are paid for by the club.
Hours of work are 8.30 to 5.30, 5 days per week to include Saturday. Duties include all aspects of horse care and management as well as instruction. As one of our team of 7 staff you will be involved in care and welfare of horses, yard and field 'housekeeping', maintenance of records as well as exercising horses, taking out hacks and giving lessons in our indoor school.
In addition to regular in house training you will be expected to undertake a First Aid Course, Riding and Road Safety and other relevant external courses to help in your career..
Requirements
Apprenticeship applicants must be a competent rider preferably with some competition or pony club experience and with good communication skills.

The Facility
The Saddle Club is a riding school and livery yard within the Defence Academy at Shrivenham. The Club has 28 stables, a brand new indoor school, cross country schooling and jumping paddock and over 50 acres of electrically fenced paddocks.
We offer a range of livery options for people working at the Defence Academy as well as riding tuition. Riding lessons are available to all from Mums and Tots to adults training for serious competition. The Club has over 20 horses and ponies available for riding lessons and is open 7 days per week. We are a recognised Pony Club Centre offering a range of childrens activities throughout the year especially during school holidays. We employ a number of working pupils training towards BHS and NVQ examinations.
