Windwoood Equestrian is seeking the right individual to fill our need for an apprentice to one of our trainers. This opportunity has the ability to grow into a full time assistant trainer position for the right individual.

This job will include the following duties: daily care of small string of lesson horses, maintaining the lesson barn (with assistance from the trainer), assisting in and teaching lessons to various levels of riders, and other general farm related duties as needed.

There will be riding opportunities as well, and lessons provided by our staff of well qualified trainers.

Windwood hosts a variety of shows, camps, and clinics throughout the year, and during these times assistance from the working student may be required.

Requirements

This job requires that the individual teach and assist in teaching a variety of age and skill levels. Patience and a good sense of humour are very important! There is also a lot of face-time with clients, and it is important that the employee be able to engage the customers, be polite and pleasant, and all around have an outgoing personality. While this job will include lessons and some riding opportunities, this is not a riding position.

Accommodation

Lovely 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on the property, shared with another working student/assistant trainer. Property is gated and the house has its own private fenced yard with a gate as well.

The Facility

Windwood Equestrian is an upscale equestrian center conveniently located just 15 minutes south of Birmingham in Pelham, AL. We are easily reached from the freeway as well, being only 3 miles from I-65. Situated on over 150 wooded acres, Windwood offers the best of everything, including an 18 stall training and boarding barn, a 6 stall barn that houses our Riding Academy, and a 5 stall overflow barn.

The facility boasts a 36,000 sq ft lighted jumping arena, a 20,000 sq ft Riding Academy arena, and a mirrored Dressage arena with Eurofelt footing. We also have a Eurocizer available. We offer 13 individual turnouts with 4-board fencing, a cross country field with water complex, and miles of trails. Security is guaranteed with monitored gates, security cameras, and alarm system, as well as caretakers living on the premises.
