Job Description

Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime in beautiful Wyoming!
Instructors will develop, manage and supervise a safe and challenging equestrian program for Los Angeles teens at summer camp in Wyoming. Documented training and experience with horses required; prefer experience with CHA or accepted equivalent.

Requirements include the ability to maintain equine facilities and trails in excellent and safe working condition (includes fencing).
Must be able to effectively teach basic and intermediate riding skills and also lead trail rides. Goal is to help students and staff develop horseback riding skills as a part of summer leadership development program.

Lead and Assistant Instructor positions available.

Benefits include competitive salary, room and board, and 2 weeks of staff training in Wyoming. Summer Commitment Dates: June 10- August 14, 2012.

Requirements

Documented training and experience with horses required; prefer experience with CHA or accepted equivalent. Ability to work with teens and camp staff who need to learn basic and intermediate riding skills. For many students it will be their first encounter with a horse and will need to learn how to interact and manage horse behavior. Patience and a positive attitude is a must. Emphasis on teaching and instruction.

Accommodation

Staff living quarters separate from student cabins and in excellent condition. Staff lounge with wifi and television, staff restroom and double and single staff rooms on site.

The Facility

The C5 Youth Foundation (C5LA) is a non-profit youth organization which provides a unique five year leadership development program for high potential youth from under-resourced communities in Los Angeles. First year students participate in a high-adventure, residential camp. Students and staff members take part in horseback riding, rock climbing, canoeing, overnight camping events and team building activities that develop strong leadership skills.

Equestrian program takes place on site in Wyoming. Camp located within working cattle ranch. Horse stables, tack room, boot barn, corral, pastures for grazing and fenced pens available. Trails on site and surrounding area. Summer Program takes place from June 10th - August 14th.
