Job Description

If you’re looking for a riding job, this is it! With a much wider variety of riding products than just trail rides, you can be sure that you will have a lot of fun while making great money. We don’t put on a Western show here. We live it every day! You can be sure that you will be immersed in a real cowboy/cowgirl lifestyle here on the Rusty Spurr Ranch. For this reason, we prefer candidates with previous wrangling/guiding experience, however all applicants will be considered.
All wranglers are expected to help with any and all chores around the ranch such as feeding, tack repair, fence work, trail work etc.
Our ranch is located about 34 miles North of Silverthorne, Colorado (near ski areas such as Keystone, Copper Mountain, etc) or about 3 miles South of Kremmling, Colorado. We ride in an environment that ranges from wide open, high country sage to rugged mountain terrain covered in pine and aspen forests. We run cattle drives and trail rides 6 days per week on about 10,000 acres combined public and private ground.
We do not host any overnight guests, so you will always have your evenings (after 5) to yourself and we do provide housing for our wranglers.
The job starts between mid-May and early June and has a staggered finish between late August and the end of September.
Our wranglers are very well paid, making between $100 and $150 per day (including tips) on average.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service, self-management and organizational skills
• Willingness to tackle any chore on the ranch with little or no supervision
• Strong attention to detail/ability to see tasks to completion in a timely manner
• Familiarity with and desire to learn new methods for equine handling, behavior, care, feeding
• Responsible, trusting and honest behavior
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Initiative and problem solving skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. repetitively

Required Skills

Riding; Driving license; Equine First-Aid.

The Facility

We are a trail/dude ranch that specializes in delivering more specialized products to our guests than the standard nose-to-tail ride. We run on 10,000 acres of combined public and private land, have between 55-60 head in our string and offer guided cattle drives, non-nose-to-tail trail rides, loping rides and even a riding and rafting package.
We pasture our horses loose for a good portion of the summer so our wranglers get to participate not only in working cattle but also in rounding up the remuda. If you're hoping for a real Western lifestyle while making great money, this is it!
We're looking for candidates with a strong horse background. A history with customer service is also a plus. We need folks who can communicate effectively and give instruction as well possessing a passion for the West and cowboy culture.
