Job Description

Looking for person with equine science training, solid hunter/jumper/dressage training, and successful experience managing a team to teach, train, and manage staff. This job can be full time if the candidate is willing to help with regular chores or is sufficiently successful at attracting students for training/lessons to be able to fill her time teaching/training.

The candidate should be able to drive a truck and trailer and be able to clip, as well as have good hands and seat and preferably have experience teaching and riding over fences (we currenty have a dressage trainer.) At the Farm we generally have two part-time Asst Mg/ Trainers, three barn staff and one intern and a secretary as well as the Manager who also teaches the Trainers as well as special needs kids. Experience with, or a willingness to learn about and assist with, complimentary veterinary medicine is important as we are a holistic facility and operate a whole health equine clinic.

Live-in accomodations off site for a single person may be possible.

Requirements

We do not go to a great may shows, but give clinics. We teach a balanced seat based on classical dressage. We work with children and adults, as well as children with learning disabilities. A background in equine science is essential, as is the ability to work well with, manage, and lead a team.

The Facility

We currently have 12 insulated stalls, a tack room, feed room, and business office, an 80 x 160 lighted outdoor arena with rubber footing & closed viewing stand, a covered lunging pen with viewing stand, a hot walker, two run-in sheds, four double-fenced pastures and eight sand turn-outs, a wood shop, an equipment shed, and a cottage for live-in barn help, as well as the owner's farm house.

In operation for over 40 years, we have trained many working students, interns, and pre-vet candidates. We run an equine whole health clinic, using a variety of traditional and complimentary therapies, including Class IV Therapeutic Laser, acupuncture, light emitting diode therapy, chiropractice, and homeopathy. We also own a 9000 square foot state of the art, 4-doctor small animal hospital.
