Job Description
Currently arranging 2-3 day interviews. We want you to be sure this is what you are looking for. It is far more "hands on" than any college degree program. One immediate opening, one open July 25th.
Daily morning stables (completed as a team) incl. turn-out, cleaning up to 12 stalls, hay, water, sweep, beds, etc. Our management team handles all the tough stuff (clients, vets etc) so you can ride all afternoon.
In the afternoons you are riding up to 4 quality TB/WB/crossbreds, with at least 3 lessons a week with a top instructor, cross country training if qualified. Learn to start horses from scratch safely and humanely, learning about the training scale and how to recognize where a horse fits into it, what does the horse need to learn next, round penning to mounted work, how do they relate...etc.
Min age 18 yrs with a high school diploma or equivalent and be willing to commit to a minimum 1 year program. Educational Grant ($5000) with application for full year students only. Foreign students MUST already have Visa.
To be considered, you must fill out our Application, listed on our Resident Student page under lessons/teams on our web site. If you have a riding video, even better.
Requirements
Looking for riders who want to learn in a positive environment. Your lessons will be a combination of learning to start and train, as well as riding and training more experienced horses. You must be confident, empathetic and have a positive attitude both on the ground and while mounted. Experience and comfortable mucking at least 12 stalls a day required. Must be at least 18 years old and have accident medical insurance for the duration of the program.
Required Skills
Riding; Handling Youngstock; Schooling; Lunging; Bandaging; Plaiting; Clipping; Trim/Pull; Exercising; Starting/Breaking.
Required Expertise
Dressage; Eventing; Hunting; Show Jumping; Flatwork.
Accommodation
Pictures available on our web site. Private bedroom in large new beautiful Dormatory on farm. Share bath/kitchen/living and laundry areas with up to 5 others. Bedrooms furnished, kitchen suppiles stocked including Dishwasher, Internet, and private pantry for each student. Utilites/DirectTV paid except long distance phone. Field board for one horse. Sorry but you can't bring house pets (imagine 6, and you understand!)
Benefits
Res. students receive a minimum of 3 lessons per week by a head instructor, riding 2-3 other horses (both green and made) per day. You'll ride at least 12 horses a week and the progress you'll make is amazing! This is how you jump start your riding career. The horses are the absolute top quality WBs/TB's. Competing in Events with coaching and trailering paid if entry sponsored. 5 1/2day week, full week break after first 25 weeks, Educational Stipend ($5000) for year long students.
The Facility
Beautiful, well maintained Eventing and Dressage facility with 2 indoor arenas, 2 outdoor arenas, 75 stalls, gallop track, 6 bedroom dorm for students and all human and horse amenities. Resident owners, manager, and great, happy staff. 200 beautiful acres within 40 minutes of Washington, DC. We've been in business since 1990 and own the property. We are a very honest, consistant, and successful business, keeping many clients boarders and students happy for many years.
