Job Description
To assist in the management and maintenance of this private riding center, offering the best of care in an ecologically friendly environment.
This well kept equine facility encompasses an 8 stall barn with paddocks, inside and outside riding rings and surrounding grounds.
There is an opportunity for riding, teaching, training, etc., as agreed upon with the owners, if you are efficient and well organized. Must have own vehicle.
Responsibility for facility in owners' absence. Good communication is very important.
Enthusiasm, energy, and efficiency matter!
Requirements
Safety of people/horses at all times. All riders must use a helmet that meets or exceeds ASTM standards. All aspects of horse care and management, keeping established facility well maintained with daily cleaning of manure from stalls/ paddocks, lifting bales of hay and shavings, repair to paddocks and fencing, removal of snow from walkways, gates, and doors, tack cleaning, care of barn yard including part of the driveway and the inside ring. Assisting owners when needed. Always communication.

Benefits
Weston, MA, until June; VT end if June until October. Good trails at both places. Work outside, experience around well-seasoned horse people. Either 2 full days or 4 half days with salary and possible pay for specific help to boarders' horses, i.e., pulling manes, clipping, etc. Owner former 4-H and USPC instructor, and former NEDA Board member with interest in Centered Riding. Possible long term.
The Facility
The facility in Weston, MA, includes a 3 story barn where shavings and hay fill the loft; horses and tack room,etc., fill the first floor; and the basement contains the water supply for watering the inside ring, the various vehicles and equipment for grooming the facility, plus a storage area for fencing supplies and storage for the apartment which is attached on the other side of the barn, away from our home. The outside ring is grass, the inside ring is 152' x 70'. We are fortunate to have a lot contiguous to town conservation land with deer, possum, Fischer cats, raccoons, coyotes, and several species of hawks and owls. There is a leash law and we provide a pen to keep dogs from straying. We serve a professional clientele due to the proximity to Boston. They like a high standard of care for their horse which we like to give. There is daily turnout into paddocks that are approximately small dressage arena size. The wooden fencing is reinforced with electric tape.
