Job Description

Someday Stables is searching for a young motivated induvidual who is looking to expand their riding experience and knowledge of the horse show world. We are looking for someone who is available 5 days per week between the hours of 12 and 4 for working student/riding duties as well as available after 4 for teaching riding lessons. Will be some travel to local and national horse shows. Working student duties will be primarily riding green horses/ ponies as well as riding and preparing made show horses for customers. Some light grooming such as bathing, wrapping, and medicating will be needed from time to time. No stalls, feeding, or watering is required. Horse show duties will include meeting us at the shows and being available to ride and prepare customers horses on the show grounds as well as assist the trainers and clients by the side of the ring. Some paid showing opportunities may be available depending on the applicant. Lessons will be taught to beginner/intermediate students on out wonderful school horses and ponies.

Requirements

We are looking for someone under 5'6" inches tall, weighing less than 130 lbs due to the fact that some of the riding duties will be on ponies. We are looking for someone between the ages of 18-25. Applicants must know correct flatwork and must have the ability to confidently jump at least a 2'6" course. Show experience is a plus but not a requirement. A strong foundation is a requirement. You do not need to have experience teaching. We are more than happy to train.

Accommodation

This is NOT a live in position. If you require housing please do not apply. Your horse will be given a matted stall located in the main barn. The stalls are bedded with Royal Wood Shavings and your horse will be fed quality grain/ hay. Daily stall cleaning, watering, feeding, and turnout are included free of charge. You will have full use of all the rings and amenities available at Someday Stables.

Benefits

In exchange for the work listed above we can provide you with board on one horse free of charge. We will also provide all training/lessons/show coaching on your horse fee of charge. You will be paid for lessons that you teach on a per lesson basis.

The Facility

Someday Stables is a 28 stall hunter/jumper facility located in Montville NJ. We have a sizable indoor arena with air-foot footing and a very large outdoor ring. Attached to the indoor arena is a comfortable lounge with a working gas fireplace as well as a separate office. We have a full hunter/jumper course furnished by the same supplier of jumps for the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. The barn is equipped with a full wash stall with hot water, a heated tack room, and separate feed room. Our horses enjoy lush grass turnout as well as dirt paddocks. Grooms live on site full time.
