Job Description

Seeking motivated working student/groom with a good work ethic to work at a Hunter/Jumper show facility and care for 5-8 show horses full time. Great working environment located on 1000 acres, two large barns, 36 stalls and heated barns. Located in Northern Ohio. Weather can be COLD during winter, must be used to cold weather and can drive in snow. Needs to be able to drive large truck and a three horse trailer. Need someone that is good with clients, horses and can take direction. Must be driven, love horses and understands the responsibilities of taking care of show horses. Must be willing to travel to shows. Responsibilities include at home care of show horses, organization of barn, grooming, riding, lunging, turnout, client interaction, operating farm equipment, first aid and veterinary care, medicating (IM and IV injections, can be taught if needed), and stall cleaning (at shows). Working student must be assertive, responsible and able to handle early mornings. I am looking for a working student that has some teaching experience; I will need to be able to leave working student at home occassionally when I am away and they need to have ability to teach novice-intermediate lessons if needed. Riding lessons will be provided for the working student as well as housing. Must be willing to live with other person in large house. Will be working with another working student during this position. The salary will include housing and opportunity to bring a horse to the facility. Starting salary $150/week working 6 days a week. Requirements

Must have a good work ethic, motivated and hard working. Must have good knowledge of horses and willing to learn. Must be willing to live in a large house with another person on the farm. Must have good flatwork and jumping experience. Working student must be Intermediate rider or above for this position. Will be responsible for riding at times, must be able to handle all types of horses without issues on the Flat. Must have a valid drivers license and be able to drive large truck/trailer.
