Job Description
We have a working western horse ranch. At times we take on a special person interested in developing their horse training skills. We have some of the most beautiful canyons and mountains for our horse training areas.
We can help you from most beginner and intermediate skill levels. We have enjoyed several students who have a large amount of horse jumping background and like to see your skilled practiced here. Dressage is akin to many of the skills we practice with our colts. We are on the boarder of the Navaho and the Ute Indian reservations so there is much cultural diversity here.
Camping trips are a highlight for many also. If you have a serious desire to learn about training horses we would like to talk to you. If you would rather come and just be spoiled, the fee we charge you is only $500/ week
Requirements
You need to be athletic enough to mount a horse bareback.
You need to have good balance and be in .... or get into....a good physical condition with the ability to ride over 20 miles in a day. You need to be easy to get along with and be able to follow instructions. NO SMOKERS no drugs and no drinking.
Required Skills
Riding; Handling Youngstock; Schooling; Lunging; Teaching; Sole Charge; Exercising; Starting/Breaking; Natural Horsemanship.
Required Expertise
Flatwork.
Accommodation
There is a cabin near the horses and on the ranch for girls. There is a room in my home for males.
Benefits
The area has canyons and mountains of anicent American cliff-dwellers and the modern Native American people. This is a cultural center. During the rodeo season we attent rodeos and there is the horse show season where you can compete if you have trained a horse that has become ready. There may be one or two over-night camp trips and trail rides to the river for swimming in the summer.
The Facility
NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP TRAINING and Breeding ranch. We have produced world champion Missouri Fox Trotters in Pole Bending and Barrel Racing along with great trail riding horses. Mostly we offer you a chance to improve your skills, there are aprox. 100 head here today. There is a cabin at the ranch for the girls to live in. Room and lessons are furnished and that is the salary. If you want to learn then here is an opportunity for a dedicated horse lover. You must be self-motivated as you will be on your own often. This is a western ranch. Ranch responcibilities are mostly horse training related (you must be light enought to ride young colts) but can include irrigation, planting crops, fencing, etc. We have a SMALL jumping course. We use Clinton Anderson style training videos to get you started. No smoking, drinking nor drugs allow. There is a curfew and a time for lights out at night.
