Job Description

We are a small operation with husband and wife team, both upper level event riders, Elizabeth and Courtney Olmstead. We have trained under and worked for Karen and David O' Connor, Phillip Dutton, Jan Byyny and Kyle Carter. Individual attention and focus given to all students. Based in the heart of Virginia event country with close proximity to lots of events, schooling shows and great cross country schooling. We focus on retraining the OTTB to event but have foxhunters, upper level event horse rehabilitation as well. Looking for someone to look after our 6 month old son as well as help in the barn. Child care experience is a must but willing to teach the right person in the barn. Duties include mucking, grooming, tacking up, traveling to events and shows and general horse care. Must have fun, positive attitude and a hard worker. Housing, board for one horse and lessons all included as well as a weekly stipend. Lots of growth in this position for the right person.

Requirements

Child care experience or love of children is a must but all horse knowledge and riding can be trained for the right person.

Required Skills

Riding; Driving license; Equine First-Aid; Clipping; Trim/Pull.

Benefits

Housing for you, board, hay, grain and bedding for one horse as well as lessons, as many as you desire or need weekly. One day off a week with a week long vacation earned after 6 months of work. Lessons with other local instructors as well, everyone is at LCO Eventing to improve their horsemanship and riding skills, however that has to happen.

The Facility

Growing facility on adjacent properties. 2 barns, lots of paddocks and turnout, 2 outdoor riding rings, small cross country schooling, great gallops and lots of hacking and riding out.
