Job Description

Mature female capable of being the right hand for owner of a large horse farm that's home to diverse equestrian activities.

Specific riding skills/responsibilities include:
- Conditioning two TBs for the racetrack (one racing, one close)
- Schooling an OTTB as a hunter
- Riding & grooming retired ”A” Circuit show horses to prepare them as lesson horses
- Riding & grooming school horses to condition for lessons
- Riding two medium ponies

Management skills/responsibilities include:
- Assisting owner in producing local hunter horse shows and hunter derbies
- Daily morning feeding at 7 am sharp is required
- Spotting lameness, injuries and illnesses
- Equine first aid, including the ability to give IM and IV meds, is absolutely necessary
- Generating ideas and demonstrating the desire to improve day-to-day operations

Instruction/Lesson Program requirements:
- The talent to teach riding and build a vibrant lesson program for beginners and intermediate riders
- Experience with both beginner adults & children
- Emphasis on safety and teaching horse related skills pertaining to horse care
- Summer and Break camps

References from past employers are required, with a steady work history showing longevity, loyalty and a drama-free work ethic. This is a long-term opportunity, with plenty of room for growth

Compensation includes room and board in our historic home (2 rooms, plenty of closets and a private bath, sharing our kitchen). Board for one horse is also included along with weekly salary of $200. A work week of 50 hours is expected and 2 days off per week will be the norm with some exceptions on show weekends and hay season. The pay rate will not be adjusted if you do not have a horse. No smoking and no pets. The opportunity to move into a private residence on the farm in the future exists along with pay raises.

Accommodation

Farm consists of historic home on 230 acres. Living accomodations include a private "maid's quarters" with rooms, plenty of closets and a private bath with a shared kitchen.

The Facility

230 Acres, Indoor arena 84' x 200', 2 sm dressage rings, outdoor w/ footing 184' x 300', grass 184' x 300, round pen, excerciser 60', field jumps, 1-12 stall barn, 16 stall attached to arena, 2 extra stalls, several run-ins, host shows, make hay, lesson facility, multi-disciplined, NOT a SHOW BARN! Showing not discouraged, but it is not encouraged for points......just for experience.
