Job Description

Riding Instructor to assist in the care of up to 8 horses and the running of the weekend workshops for kids. Work would involve weekends (Friday-Sunday) helping with the implementation of the horse program, including planning and teaching ground lessons and horse related activities, as well as mounted western riding lessons in groups. Job involves long but rewarding time spent working with kids and horses, potentially in inclement weather. Minimum 20 hours for Friday to Sunday, with potential for 40 hours of additional work supporting general camp operation. Housing may be also available.

Requirements

Applicant must have:
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency and experience in Western or English horseback riding
• Willingness to provide positive leadership for youth
• Ability to teach riding skills to youth ages 9-17
• Ability to accept supervision and guidance
• Responsibility, accountability, and flexibility
• Organizational skills
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Be an excellent example to youth at all times

Accommodation

Housing is on camp property in rustic, but heated cabins, potentially shared with other staff members. There is access to internet in a shared lounge, as well the potential for room/board when groups are in and food service is available.

The Facility

400+ acres of camp property. Currently run during three of the seasons, the facility offers a tack-shed, three arenas, pastures, and trails. Primarily a summer camp, the riding program has also begun offering spring and fall riding opportunities for children and adults and the number of horses which we lease from the outfitter ranges from 4-28 depending on the time of year.
