Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION RIDING COUNSELOR 
Cooperate with other riding staff in providing riding instruction for campers. This instruction involves a prescribed number of hours each week in the ring, trails, river rides and stable management. Our first priority is enforcing safety practices as spelled out in the staff manual and at staff meetings. Assist with the general care of the horses. Every senior member of the riding staff is qualified to check the soundness of each horse on a daily basis. 
Assist with the care of the tack, the riding rings, barns and stalls.
All horses are ridden and evaluated by the riding counselors prior to camp beginning. In addition, each staff member is briefed on the character of each horse.
GENERAL CAMP WORK 
Assist in the unit where you live,
assist in general camp duties- meal times, siesta and night duty, evening unit activities and all camp programs.

FIRST AID 
Get as much first aid training as possible before coming to camp. If you are not qualified, you will certified at camp.

Required Skills

Riding; First-Aid; Equine First-Aid; Schooling; Teaching; Trim/Pull; Natural Horsemanship; Parelli Horsemanship.

Required Expertise

Riding School; Working with children.

Accommodation

Accommodation is with the Campers and another counselor.

The Facility

One of USA's top camps for girls is now recruiting for summer 2012. We need.....Fun, Energetic, Hardworking Females to teach horse riding, minimum age required is 19. Situated less than 2 hours form Washington, D.C.. Enthusiasm to teach girls of all ages and abilities is required. Equine Degree, Pony Club, PNH, BHS, National Certificates and NVQ certifications a plus but not essential. Great way to obtain experience towards BHS PTT. Our facilities include 60 stalls, 6 arenas, including jumping arena, and miles of private trails. Fantastic opportunity!
