Job Description

We're looking for an ambitious and passionate individual to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of The Horse First Farm.

The Horse First is a unique endeavor, centered around the principles of natural horsemanship and horse care. We're looking for someone who shares our passion for a relationship-based way of interacting with horses and people. Synergy here is imperative and we will gladly answer questions about our culture and philosophy from interested candidates.

We currently board 75 horses. Some of the job responsibilities of our General Manager include: 1. Facilitate effective communication with boarders. 2. Direct and assist staff with daily performance of top-quality horse care. 3. Oversee the maintenance and development of our facility. 4. Maintain all required inventory. 5. Perform all associated administration (i.e. - board collection) 6. Respond to incidents and emergencies as they arise. 7. Provide quality leadership to THFF staff. 8. Set and implement growth strategies in alignment with THFF vision. 9. Collaborate as needed with resident Parelli Professionals to provide top-quality educational services and events. 10. Supervise and/or generate marketing initiatives. 11. Create and execute annual budget. 12. Perform financial analysis and recommend adjustments.

Our existing team posses a varied mix of talents. Not everything has to be done directly by you. A large part of your job will be putting the talent that is already here to good use.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate would: 1. Resonate with our culture and values. 2. Be familiar with and respect Parelli Natural Horsemanship. 3. Be knowledgeable in the field of natural horse care. 4. Have experience in equine business management. 5. Have experience leading a team. 6. Be willing and able to work hands-on, outside, in all weather when needed. 7. Value doing something he or she is passionate about. 8. Demonstrate a high-degree of responsibility and a strong, independent work ethic.

Required Skills

Driving license; Equine First-Aid; Sole Charge; Natural Horsemanship; Parelli Horsemanship.

If desired, low-cost accommodation is available in a shared house on the farm. We have private bedrooms and a shared kitchen and living space.

The Facility

Large boarding and education facility focused on Natural Horsemanship and natural horse keeping. We board around 75 horses kept in small herds and boast a cover-all indoor arena, outdoor arena, playground with a honeycomb of round pens, and trails lining the property. We also have a heated lounge and classroom overlooking the indoor arena.
