Bowness Stud & Watershed Farm is seeking a casual horse truck driver to assist in transporting mares and foals in the upcoming breeding season.

Commencing on the 1st September, through until late November, the successful applicant will play a key role in our annual breeding season, transporting valuable thoroughbred mares and foals to leading stallion farms throughout the Hunter Valley and Victoria before returning them home to Young NSW after covers.

The role is expected to involve multiple transport trips per week in our trucks provided.

Strong horse handling and horse cartage experience is imperative for transporting the valuable thoroughbreds between the farms so must be very capable of safely loading and unloading mares and foals.

Casual pay will be based on a set rate per km to either the Hunter Valley or to studs in Victoria, alternatively we also welcome applications from contractors with their own ABN.

Essential Requirements:

Clean HR driver's licence history. Proven experience driving livestock or horse transport vehicles. Extensive horse handling experience and confidence working with young and valuable stock. Excellent stockmanship and animal welfare standards. Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to be flexible and assist wherever required.

Highly Regarded:

Horse handling experience. Machinery operation background and experience. HR licence history and track record. Mechanical aptitude.
