Stable Manager for successful equestrian and trail-riding centre with international clients in Transylvania/Romania . We are looking for an accomplished horse person, who is experienced in running a stable, leading staff, planning and coordinating activities, while collaborating with different teams in the tourism sector. The position also requires good riding and guiding skills to support the team with training young horses, maintaining fitness levels, and occasionally guiding trail-rides. Good communication skills and a dedication to making the rides an enjoyable experience for guests and horses alike are a must.

The foothills of the Carpathian Mountains are a fantastic landscape that is made to be explored and enjoyed on horseback, and the job will give you sufficient possibilities to do just that. Equus Silvania is part of Travel Carpathia, an ecotourism operator of the conservation organisation Foundation Conservation Carpathia, committed to allow environmentally conscious visitors to experience the beauty and wildness of Transylvania and the Carpathian Mountains.

Foreign language skills required (all guiding is in English; any additional language is a plus and openness to learn Romanian desired). We offer free food and lodging, salary negotiable. A drivers license for a horse trailer is a must. The job is also **available to couples together with the Location Manager **position. Main Responsabilities: Horse & stable management

• Ensure the health, welfare and appropriate care of all horses
• Coordinate feeding, veterinary care, medication and treatment plans
• Supervise hoof care and communication with farriers and veterinarians
• Ensure appropriate fitness, training and suitability of horses for different activities
• Oversee stables, pastures, fencing, riding areas and equestrian equipment
• Oversee stable staff and allocate tasks *Contribute to decisions around the development and composition of the horse herd

Equestrian team management

• Recruit, onboard, train and coordinate guides and other equestrian staff
• Organise schedules and daily tasks
• Ensure that guides are prepared for their activities and understand Equus standards
• Support and mentor new guides during their first tours
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, horse welfare and guest experience

Guest experience & riding activities

• Organise and oversee riding activities and horse allocation
• Ensure that activities are appropriate for the abilities of both guests and horses
• Support guests directly when needed
• Maintain and further develop the local riding trail network
• Contribute to new horse-based and nature experiences together with Travel Carpathia

Requirements:

• Substantial practical experience working with horses
• Strong knowledge of horse care, welfare, handling and training
• Experience with stable and herd management
• Experience leading, training or mentoring other people
• Experience with riding activities, guiding or working directly with guests
• Decent digital skills (PC operation, MS Office user, social media platforms).
• High personal ethics, dedication to conservation, and passion for nature.
• Good time management skills, well-organised and responsible.
• Good English; Romanian and other languages are an advantage
• Category B driving licence; BE trailer license

Own room in newly built cabin, shared bathroom, living room. High quality, mostly organic food served in guest house during season. If position is together with Location Manager (as a couple), own apartment annexed to guesthouse.
