Working as one of two Grooms under the General Manager on this well established Military Yard in Windsor.

The Light Cavalry, is a ceremonial subunit of the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC), is involved in regular high profile public appearances and has a reputation for the highest standards of horse welfare, safety, presentation, and behaviour in all that it does. In 2004, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II presented the Light Cavalry with a Royal Warrant.

The Grooms offer day to day care for the up to 12 horses in all aspect of care and yard work, ensure that the horses are exercised and that they are turnout to the highest of standards for all of the Ceremonial Occasions. The Grooms also help the Light Cavalry Supporting Riders who come for lessons or for hacking in the Windsor Great Park when the horses are not preparing for duties. A coaching qualification would be highly desirable and the desire to do some coaching a bonus.

Live in role, working a 5 day week with regular days off. 2 late nights required a week as well as at least one weekend day a week.

Must be professional and honest, enjoy riding and be a team player as part of a small team.

Requirements

As ensuring that the horses are exercised, happy to ride and proficient to stage 2 level is important, often exercise is hacking the horses for which they are fit, fun and forward so a confident rider is important. Do not need to be a world beater but be kind to the horses.

Self-directing, with initiative and common sense, with flexibility, dedication, strength under pressure and a good sense of humour!
