South Buckinghamshire Riding for the Disabled provides children and adults, with a range of disabilities, with the opportunity to ride and have equine interaction, benefitting their well-being. We are based at a purpose-built facility which has been in existence for 60 years, with many a paralympic medallist starting their career here. We are a thriving centre, open 7 days a week, and set on a beautiful 33 acre estate with private woodland, purpose-built barn, indoor and outdoor school and are home to 16 mannerly horses.

SBRDA boasts a calm atmosphere with high standards and we are looking for a full time groom or groom / coach to join our team. This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced staff while having the opportunity to train for both RDA and BHS exams. Everyone at SBRDA is passionate about the development of our centre and community and we pride ourselves on the new opportunities we offer to our riders.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• To help care for the group’s horses, ensuring that they are are kept fit and healthy.

• To support the running of RDA sessions, working alongside volunteers and participants.

• To ensure the site facilities and equipment are maintained and tidy.

About you:

• Equine Experience: a sound knowledge of equine care and health needs and demonstrable handling skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible approach to work.

• An interest in working with young people and vulnerable adults.

• Willingness to achieve RDA coach qualifications

• An Enhanced DBS check will be required

This is a full time role (40hrs per week over 5 days (800am-4.30pm) to include one weekend day.

Salary dependent on experience.

We are a specialist centre, providing riding and equine based activities for children and adults with disabilities. We provide weekly group lessons for disabled children from local specialist and mainstream schools. We provide individual lessons for those who want to progress towards para-dressage. 4 dedicated members of staff and 30+ volunteers ranging from 14yrs to .... We have range of horses and ponies. We also have a mechanical horse. Indoor and outdoor arenas with mirrors. Undercover stalls and stabling. Grazing and off road access to hacking.
