Job Description

South Bucks provides individuals with a range of disabilities, with the opportunity to ride and have equine interaction, benefitting their health and well-being. We are based in Fulmer and have been in existence for 60 years, with many a Paralympic medallist starting their career here. We are a thriving centre, open 7 days a week, with high standards and a friendly and inclusive atmosphere and we are looking for a full time groom or groom / coach. Our new staff member will be working alongside experienced staff and will have the opportunity to train for both RDA and BHS exams.

Main Duties & Responsibilities: • To help care for the group’s horses, ensuring that they are provided with the correct feeding, watering, grazing and exercise to ensure that they are kept fit and healthy.

• To inspect the horses for injuries, infections or disease, ensuring the horses wellbeing

• To carry out stable duties and prepare horses for RDA sessions, offering a friendly and professional face to our volunteers and riders.

To ensure the site facilities and equipment are maintained

Late night checks on a rota basis

Minimum Requirements

• Previous experience of working with horses, a sound knowledge of equine care/health needs, and demonstrable handling skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills and happy to work as part of a small team

• An interest in working with young people and vulnerable adults.

• Willingness to achieve RDA coach qualifications would be encouraged and supported

• An Enhanced DBS check will be required
