Sole charge part time equestrian position (85% of role) covering all aspects of care for 2 super competition horses and 1 retired horse. Daily hours will vary allowing employee to ride own horse and / or take another part time role. Responsibilities include all normal day to day care, worming / vaccination schedule, ordering feed / bedding, yard and field care, arranging farrier / vet visits / riding / exercising (mainly on weekdays as owners ride weekends) and occasional show prep / grooming at competitions. Family help (15% of role) to include feeding and care for family dogs and providing lifts to school/station etc. 24 hours/week spread over 6 days (flexible day off, have freelance cover arranged). Responsible for managing your own time to make sure all jobs are done to a high standard and ensuring the horses and dogs are well loved and cared for!! Would suit a sympathetic experienced rider who enjoys schooling, hacking and jumping. Riding ability (guide) from BHS stage 3 and above or Novice level dressage. Some one who is competent at dressage and jumping and capable of regular flatwork with two eventers is essential. Previous family help / driving experience ideal. Car driver essential (must have own car and be willing to drive employer’s Land Rover Discovery). Applicants must have a clean driving licence and must have been driving for at least 2 years. LGV (up to 4.5T) licence an advantage but not a requirement.
Willing to get stuck in at a fun family home caring for gorgeous horses and lovely dogs and occasionally providing lifts to school or station! Located in a village near Newbury, on the Berkshire/Hampshire border. To make an application, please supply a CV and some photos / short video of you riding. A short riding trial will be given at interview, hence will suit UK based applicants as travel to interview is not funded. Employment would be subject to satisfactory references and DBS (criminal record) check.

Accommodation is provided in a fantastic self-contained one bed bungalow on site but separate from owners house. Annexe built to a high specification and with fitted kitchen, washer-dryer and own small private fenced garden.
The job is a sole charge role, like having your own horses to do 6 days a week, with the 24 hours spread over those 6 days with some flexibility. Start and finish time flexible but usually 8amish for breakfast and horses are tucked up by 5ish – switching in the hot weather. Will suit someone who wants to have another part time job and or a keen rider who will have plenty of time to ride own horse. Up to 28 days cover are included as holiday to be agreed with owners.
