We are a rescue centre for heavy horses and greyhounds based just outside Nairn in North Scotland. We have been established for over 25 years but recently moved to the area so are looking for a Yard Manager.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing a yard, should be hard working, organised, experienced with horses (heavy horses ideally but not essential), be able to drive and have high standards of care and turnout. Please note that the majority of our horses are heavy horses so you must be comfortable around them.
You will need to organise all manner of yard duties with attention to detail, so that the yard runs efficiently. Opportunity to school some ponies/horses in preparation for being rehomed. You should ensure all the horses are cared for to a high standard and is very much a hands on role, including watering, feeding and mucking out
You should be able to identify any issues with the horses and communicate that. You should be able to communicate and work well with both the vet and farrier, as well as running an organised worming and vaccination program. You will be required to manage staff and volunteers
You must be able to drive and tow a horse trailer
5 days per week including weekend & bank holiday work
8am to 4pm (possibly to 5pm during summer months) with 1/2 hour for lunch.
