Successful registered equine charity is looking for business manager to manage yard, staff, horses and facility in a hands-on way. The successful candidate will demonstrate skills in managing a large budget to meet infinite demand with finite resources. Reporting to the charity trustees, the business manager will be responsible for compliance with all charity legislation and all legal and local requirements for running a charity equine facility providing rescue, rehabiliation and rehoming for horses and ponies in need and for providing equine faciliated therapy for people with barriers to employment and life. The business manager will implement all charity policies including intake policy, euthanasia policy, recruitment policy, safeguarding policy and will review and update policies regularly and will be resposible for maintaining all records in an accurate and accessible format for inspection by British Horse Society, ABRS, local authority and others.The business manager will manage the budget to ensure adequate care is provided for all horses and that resources are used effectively. The business manager will manage contractors and select appropriate contractors and suppliers following the tender process and be responsible for the safe, prompt, correct completion of contracted work and the correct, prompt, accurate payment of contractors and suppliers. The business manager will be the licence holder and will be responsible for meeting all licence and approval requirments to maintain our BHS highly commended status and our membership of ABRS. The business manager will arrange membership and approval by any other bodies that are advantageous to the charity. The business manager will proactively source income for the charity from service users by referrals, direct payments or self funded and for obtaining grants.

Requirements

The business manager will be responsible for teaching service users and BHS exam trainees as well as employees and volunteers so must have full BHS stage 3 plus teaching qualifications and ideally have BHS stage 4 pr be actively working towards this. The business manager will be working with vulnerbale people and will have full Disclosure Scotland and/or SSSC membership or be willing to supply all details to obtain this. The business manager will have full current Safeguarding training and will keep this current and will be the Safeguarding lead. The business manager will hold a current relevant First Aid qualification and will be reponsible for administering all controlled equine medication and keeping this well stocked, secure and current. The business manager will be responsible for safe use of pesticides and will ensure all pesticides are stored and used safely in accordance with legislation and that all staff using pesticides have current training and that all farm machinery is safe, appropriate and secure. The business manager is responsible for the submission of annual return to OSCR and annual accounts and for accuracy of these. The business manager is reponsible for purchase of feed, bedding, forage and other and for making sure these are good quality, dust free and in stock and are stored safely and hygienically. The business manager is responsible for current fire safety and for conducting and documenting regular fire drills. The business manager is responsible for organising regular events to raise funds and awareness including open days, shows, fairs, alternative therapy events, sponsored rides and others and for ensuring safety and compliance of these. The business manager is responsible for running groups for women, older men, veterans, children and others: for publicising these in appropriate ways and managing activities and attendance, for liaising with referring organisations and making contacts and for further development of the site and charity.

We rent out our old farmhouse which generates income.
