Housekeeper/Estate worker/Groom

CHM is a private estate where the pace of work is steady, full of variety and our motivated team have plenty to do!

We are in search of a new team member to work in a hybrid capacity as housekeeper, estate worker and groom. You will be working alongside the main housekeeper and Estate steward, caring for our ridden horses, conservation herd of Exmoor’s, goats and family dog, and helping with small estate jobs.

Help will also be needed in the main house with cleaning, cooking and meal preparation.

This role is a live-in position, requiring flexibility to support the Estate steward with evening care of the family dog and late-night horse checks (9.00 – 9.30pm) when horses are in at night.

Working days are Sunday - Wednesday 8am -4:30pm

The accommodation is a spacious, furnished one-bedroom flat, with modern bathroom and kitchen and access to a small private outside area. All bills and Wi-Fi are included, but you will need to purchase your own TV license.

A small, well-behaved and friendly dog would be welcome, but must meet the two dogs that live on site before moving in and must get along.

Key Requirements:

Full UK driving licence

Non-smoker

Typical Tasks:

Animal care;

Walking the family dog on our private estate;

Bring-in and turnout of horses;

General horse care - including grooming, picking out feet, standing with farrier, dentists or vets. Confidence with semi-feral ponies advantageous.

Bringing in goats (weather dependent);

Care of chickens – feed, water and in/out;

Estate work to include leaf blowing, raking of gravel, weeding and watering plants

Housework to include Cooking/meal preparation; cleaning to help and work alongside main housekeeper, collecting dry cleaning and other small village errands.
