Millfield Prep School is seeking a dedicated Riding Instructor to join our Equestrian Team on a maternity cover basis. This full-time role averages 48 hours per week year-round. During term time, the working hours are 6:45 am – 5:30 pm, while during non-term time, they are 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. The position follows a five-day workweek with Sundays and Mondays off, and includes some weekend work, such as travel to competitions. In return, you will receive a salary of £31,374.51 per annum.
The successful candidate will coach pupils in equitation and theory, assist with BHS exam training, and support the management of the stables. They will play an active role in maintaining high standards in teaching, yard management, and horse care while helping to maintain the highly commended BHS status. Ensuring safe practices, writing progress reports, and participating in stable routines are key aspects of the role.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic coach with a passion for developing young riders aged 5 to 13. The ideal candidate will hold a BHSAI or BHS Stage 3 qualification (or higher) and demonstrate professionalism, a strong focus on safety, and a desire to grow their coaching skills.

Equestrian Centre for Independent boarding school situated in Somerset and caters to children ages 2 - 18. Facilities include stabling for up to 100 horses over 2 sites, combining accommodation in American style barns and traditional stables, indoor arena 44m x 64m, outdoor arena 50m x 70m, 2 sets of BS standard show jumps and portable X-C jumps, cross-country schooling fences, off road canter track and access to gallops, all-weather horse walker and round pen and resident yard staff.
