An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic leader to manage a skilled and enthusiastic team at our centre in Rolleston-on-Dove, Staffordshire. The Rolleston team work closely with the Burford rehoming centre and the Horse Welfare team, delivering a cohesive horse rehoming service which cares for and rehomes over 300 horses annually.
You will be leading and motivating a highly performing team to run Rolleston rehoming Centre as an efficient and effective business, optimizing the off-site rehoming, and fostering schemes to achieve maximum numbers of animals helped. As part of your role, you will also be responsible for managing a small five pen cattery which operates from the Rolleston rehoming site as part of the wider Rehoming Network of rehoming centres’ and sites.
You will work with the Rehoming Service Delivery Partners and the Horse Rehoming Managers to maximize the centre efficiency and to contribute towards the development of our Horse rehoming Strategy. The Centre Manager is responsible for raising income and promoting Blue Cross locally. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about animal welfare, with an open, innovative business mind and enjoys problem solving, team management and interaction with customers.
The standard hours are 42 hours per week on a locally agreed rota which will include weekends and bank holidays. Due, to the nature of the work of Blue Cross, occasional overnight cover including staying on site on a shared rota basis to care for pets and carry out night checks may be required. Overnight accommodation is provided for this purpose.
Salary: £31,205 - £34,000 per annum Grade: 3.1 Closing Date: 12th August 2022 Interview Dates: 23rd or 26th August 2022
We are looking for people with the following: • Valid manual driving licence • GCSE English and Maths or equivalent experience • Significant experience of practical companion animal care • Experience in an animal welfare environment or experience of re-homing pet animals • Significant experience in team management • Proven ability to recruit, induct, train and performance manage teams • Business performance management • Budget development and financial control • Site management • Delivering high standards of Customer Care • Running efficient administration systems • Managing Health and Safety including Risk Assessments and COSHH • IT skills including MS Word/Excel/Outlook to intermediate level
It would also be great if you had: • A recognised management qualification • Employment in an animal welfare environment • Experience working in a continuous improvement environment, and managing change • Experience of managing volunteers • Experience of working in a target focused environment • Successful project management experience • Excellent Presentation skills for public speaking • Management of animals under veterinary care • Understanding of animal behaviour theory and current practice • Experience of running promotional events, maintaining good public relations and fundraising

Rolleston rehoming centre is located just outside Rolleston-on-Dove. We opened in 2006 and can care for up to 55 horses in our paddocks and stables. There is a large and dedicated team of volunteers.
