In the past I’ve worked at the local riding school with 40 horses so I’m used to being effective when it comes to mucking out and tacking up. My personality is kind and calm and it has always been one of my strengths with both animals and people. As a farmer’s daughter I’m not afraid of using machinery, tools and cars with trailers. I have a background on horsebackriding for 20 years.
Currently working as a Lance Corporal within the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. My daily tasks are to take groups of troopers out to exercise the horses, groom, general yard duties, checking for injuries, cleaning state kit to a high standard, clipping, pulling, and turning the horses out for parade. I regularly liaise with vets and nutritionists to ensure the best possible care. Also cross country and showjumping competitions. At any one time, I could be in charge of up to 30 troopers.
German trained, American born Dressage Rider/Trainer, completed the German Bereiterin certification after 6 year apprenticeship at Stall Ramsbrock, a large sales/training facility in Menslage, Germany. Worked as assistant rider for many top professionals. Many years of experience starting young horses, and bringing up many different types of horses through the levels. Competed through Grand Prix. THEN we offer comprehensive training for a Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship in Horse Care from our competition yard.
The job involves all normal stable duties, the exercise of competition horses and travel to shows.
Whilst you need to have some practical knowledge of yard duties and need to be competent, confident rider, happy to ride fit horses hacking or in the school, we will give you full training to reach the required standard as a competition groom.
This is a full time position 5.5 days a week, 7:30 - 17:30.
You must want to do things well and like things to be organised, clean and tidy, as we work to a high standard.
Our horses are treated as individuals and our Grooms must have their welfare at heart.
You will be expected to groom for up to six horses, once qualified.
For someone that is already competing in Showjumping we would be able to offer you staff livery for your horse. This would give you the opportunity to do some ridden training with a BS Accredited Coach and to travel to some national BS shows with us.
Modern Accommodation, on site, is available and the position is live in.
You will work alongside two other full time Grooms, who are hard working, love horses and are easy to get along with.
You should:- have a love of horses and like to care for them, be prepared to work to a high standard, enjoy working as a team member whilst being able to work alone when needed and most of all be cheerful & conscientious with pride in your work.
We do not not cater for any pets. For the right candidate it is possible to bring your own horse on staff livery.
This job is perfect for someone who likes to learn in a hands on way and wants to become a top class knowledgeable Groom/or someone wanting to improve their Showjumping skills before going on to further education, in the equine industry.

You have you own room with en-suite shower room and there is a shared kitchen and sitting area. There is a freezer, full kitchen equipment, washing machine and dryer.
All your bills are paid, and cleaning products are provided.
You will need to provide your own food.
We are able to offer a Modern Apprenticeship so you have something to prove your knowledge. A professional but friendly environment where you will learn. Previous grooms have gone on to work for international riders. The yard is run by a BS Accredited Coach. For someone who competes in Showjumping at 85cm - 1.10m level there is a good opportunity to bring you own horse and improve your ridden skills. A productive way of taking a year out, or being involved in the equine industry prior to taking on further education.
We are a small livery yard that offers a full livery service to competition standard. In the main the livery owners showjump. The yard is an american barn style of 16 stables all with automactic drinkers, 25mX50m school, lunge school, horsewalker and jump field. We are very commited to providing a high level of care to our owners and their horses.
Grooms accomodation is a modern and all grooms have their own room and shower room.
