**Weekends & Mid-Week Hours Available ** Are you an experienced and qualified riding instructor who believes great horsemanship starts with kindness, patience, and understanding? We are seeking a special individual to join our team at a holistic riding and equine learning centre in Surrey, working with a diverse range of clients including nervous beginners, novice riders, children, teenagers, and individuals with additional needs. This is not a traditional riding school role. We are looking for someone who values partnership over pressure, understands that confidence grows through encouragement rather than criticism, and shares our commitment to putting horse welfare at the heart of everything we do. The Role
- Teach riders from complete beginners through to Stage 1 / apprenticeship level.
- Support learners working towards ABRS and AQA qualifications.
- Deliver engaging, progressive riding lessons that build confidence and competence without pressure.
- Organise and lead non-ridden horse activities, stable management sessions, and educational workshops.
- Help develop structured learning programmes for children, young people, and adults.
- Support apprentices and students in their practical and theoretical learning.
- Contribute to a positive, encouraging, and professional environment.
Our Philosophy We teach riders to understand horses, not dominate them. Our approach does not rely on whips, spurs, or forcing horses to comply. Instead, we focus on balance, communication, confidence, and partnership. If you believe horses deserve to be listened to, riders deserve to feel safe, and learning should be inspiring rather than intimidating, we'd love to hear from you.
Requirements
- Relevant instructor qualification.
- Ability to work weekends and part-time mid-week hours.
- Reliable, professional, and eligible to work in the UK.
- First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications preferable.
- Experience with ABRS, AQA, apprenticeships, or educational programmes advantageous. You will be:
- A qualified riding instructor with relevant teaching experience.
- Patient, kind, and an excellent communicator.
- Confident teaching nervous and novice riders.
- Organised, proactive, and capable of planning progressive lesson programmes.
- Passionate about horse welfare and ethical horsemanship.
- Comfortable working with children and individuals with additional needs.
- A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
