At Greatwood Charity, we pioneer the retraining of former racehorses while providing life-changing educational opportunities for young people. We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled Equine Groom to join our supportive yard team.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Daily Care: Mucking out, feeding, grooming, and monitoring horse health and wellbeing.
- Rehab & Retraining: Assisting with ground handling, routines, and retraining programmes for ex-racehorses.
- Yard Standards: Maintaining clean, safe stables, arenas, and facilities.
- Ambassador: Interacting professionally with students, visitors, and supporters.
- Riding: Opportunities available depending on rider experience and ability.
What We’re Looking For
- Right to Work: Must have valid eligibility to live and work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).
- Equine Experience: Confident, quiet handling skills with a sympathetic understanding of ex-racehorses.
- Yard Standards: Sound horse care knowledge and the ability to respond to emergencies.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, team-oriented, physically fit for outdoor work, and flexible for weekend rotas.
- Driving Licence: Full UK licence required; 3.5T horsebox experience is a plus.
Package & Hours
- Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including weekends on rota).
- Pay: Negotiable based on experience
