We are seeking a dedicated, skilled Flat Rider to join our professional show barn program. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys producing horses correctly on the flat, developing balance and rideability, and riding a variety of quality sport horses. Jumping is optional — riders who prefer to stay on the flat are encouraged to apply, and riders who wish to jump occasionally will have opportunities depending on ability.
You will be working alongside experienced trainers, top-level horses, and a well-structured team focused on the highest standards of care, presentation, and horsemanship.
Ride a variety of horses daily, primarily focusing on flatwork, conditioning, and correct schooling • Improve horses’ rideability, suppleness, strength, and balance • Assist with hacking, warm-ups, trot sets, and conditioning programs • Keep detailed notes on each horse’s progress and needs • Work closely with trainers to maintain consistent expectations across the program • Optional: opportunities to jump depending on experience and interest • Assist with basic barn routines, grooming, and horse care as part of a team • Help prepare horses for riding sessions or training as needed • Maintain a safe, calm, and positive environment around horses
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys producing horses correctly, wants consistent riding opportunities, and values a professional, well-managed environment.
If you are a rider who loves good flatwork, wants to improve under experienced professionals, and appreciates a positive, structured environment — we would love to hear from you. This position offers real riding opportunities, daily development, and the chance to work with top-quality horses in a program that values skill, growth, and professionalism.
Requirements
• Strong flatwork skills and good feel for a variety of horses • Soft, correct, and confident riding style • Ability to follow direction and work within a structured training system • Professional, reliable, and detail-oriented • Comfortable riding fit, athletic horses • Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team • Previous show-barn experience preferred but not required • Must be legally allowed to work in the U.S. • Ability to help with general horse care when needed
Accommodation
Comfortable housing is available for the right candidate. Accommodation is clean, private, and conveniently located to the property, making daily routines smooth and efficient. Utilities are included. Live-in is optional.
Job Benefits
• Daily riding on quality sport horses • Jumping opportunities for riders who want it • Coaching and guidance from experienced trainers • Work within a professional, high-standard program • Learn the systems and structure used to produce high-level horses • Supportive, friendly staff and a well-organised working environment • Competitive pay based on experience • Live-in accommodation available • Opportunities for long-term growth within the program • Hands-on exposure to vets, farriers, and top show professionals
