Equestrian Trainer Status: Full Time Reports to: Head Trainer Supports the Head Trainer in managing, planning, administrating and supervising of the equestrian programs for the school. Teach elements of horsemanship and horseback riding to students. Schools/rides horses in order to exercise them for training purposes. Scope of Responsibilities
- Manage the lesson schedule and teach daily lessons as per the schedule, plus additional extra lessons for students.
- Responsible to help organize and maintain a schedule for the show horses and their training schedule
- Support the planning and maintaining of horse show schedule, both on and off campus
- Take students to one-day local shows, as well as multi day “A” shows
- Assist in the coordination of all necessary details for travel and participation for students and horses at shows.
- Support design of Ground School curriculum
- Maintain and update the Riding Program’s social media presence, particularly Instagram, staying current with relevant trends and content strategies.
- Oversee all barn operations in the absence of the barn manager.
- Communicate to families of both Middle and Upper school students
- Assist with The Ethel Walker School Summer Riding Experience (EWS SRE)
- Assist with EWS IEA
- Work directly with the admissions office of the school to help on board new families or reach out to potential families.
- Responsible for assisting with evaluation, design and implementation of all systems, policies, protocols within the riding department (i.e. safety, billing, communications etc.)
- Supervise plan of care and training for Ethel Walker horses
- Required to have or be willing to get a Connecticut DMV passenger endorsement license (To drive student transport vehicles).
- Other duties as assigned

The Ethel Walker School provides a strong foundation to maintain a best-in-class riding program. The Equestrian Center is located on Walker’s 175-acre campus, providing ready access to the barn and horses, as well as winding trails and extensive turnouts. 65 stalls. We care for horses that compete on the top show circuit as well as over 20 school horses.
