Camp Kippewa is seeking passionate, hardworking, horse-loving equestrians to join our barn team for an unforgettable summer in beautiful central Maine. If you love teaching, caring for horses, being outdoors, and being part of a close-knit community—this could be your dream job.

🐎 About the Program Our equestrian program combines high-quality English riding instruction with the energy of a traditional overnight camp. We focus on horsemanship, safety, skill development, and confidence—both in and out of the saddle. Riders range from beginners to experienced equestrians, following Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) standards.

🌟 What You’ll Do

Teach and assist with English riding lessons (flat, poles, small jumps)

Care for and manage our lesson horses

Support daily barn operations (feeding, grooming, tacking, turnout)

Be a positive role model and mentor to campers

Work closely with our experienced equestrian leadership team

Fully immerse yourself in camp life and make lasting memories

💛 Who We’re Looking For

College students, recent grads, or young equestrian professionals

Confident riders with a solid English riding foundation

Experience with kids preferred but not required

Positive, energetic, team-oriented, and ready for long, rewarding days

Comfortable living and working in a traditional overnight camp setting

Requirements

Solid foundation in English riding (flatwork; poles/small jumps a plus)

Basic horse care and barn management skills

Ability to safely teach or assist riders of varying levels

Strong communication skills with children and teens

Positive, team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic

Good judgment, reliability, and attention to safety

Willingness to learn, take feedback, and jump into camp life

Accommodation

Live on campus in shared staff bunks alongside campers, with full meals provided daily. Staff enjoy access to camp facilities, a beautiful lakefront setting, and an immersive, community-centered camp experience just steps from the barn.
