- care of 3 dressage and 2 retired horses in family facility just west of Boston. Heated barn, indoor and outdoor rings with dust free European footing.
- full time (three 10 hour days and one 5 hour day each week). Plus night checks if live on property.
- Optional after trial period: live onsite in lovely farmhouse. Private bedroom, shared bathroom, roommate.
Job responsibilities:
- general care and maintenance of horses to FEI competition ready standards.
- daily stalls, turnout, feeding, grooming, tacking and untacking, grain, meds, treadmill, lunging as needed.
- assisting with vet, farrier, masseuse and dentist.
- management/ordering of hay, grain, manure pick ups, etc.
- body clipping and braiding a huge plus but not required.
- three 10 hour days and one five hour day per week. Night checks if live on property
- May - November competition season may require 2 weekends each month of extra days/time to accomodate show schedule
Experience and skills required:
- commitment, attention to detail
- embrace learning how things are done at this farm and comfortable with constructive feedback
- patience and reliability, important that you are on time to work
- previous work with competition horses
- IM and IV shots a plus but not required
- clipping and braiding a huge plus but not required
- experience driving horse trailers a plus but not required
- experience with FEI dressage a plus
Personality fit is critical. We have high standards for care of our horses. But we are easy going in personality. Need to have a ready smile and good sense of humor even at 5 AM when we are prepping horses for a show. No drama!
This is not an instructor/trainer position - no riding
No smoking on property. Payroll - taxes are deducted. Workmen's Comp.
