Bio
I am a 41 year old rider and yard manager, originally from South Africa, now living with permanent residency in Australia. I have been involved in the horse industry my entire life and successfully made it a profession for the last 15 years.
Qualifications

I am a qualified Showing Judge, having judged Nationally and Internationally. I have been awarded Judge Of The Year 3 times in South Africa and held showing clinics locally and Internationally. In addition to this, I have been both an invigilator as well as a tutor to up and coming young judges.

Duties of Current Occupation

Riding, tacking up, lunging, long lining, bandaging, administering medication, feeding, mucking out, rugging, show turn-out, ground work and handling, towing, training staff, manage and oversee day to day schedules, ordering feed, invoicing clients.

Equine Work Experience

I have over 15 years experience as a rider, trainer, manager and groom. Working in South African as well as the UK. Due to my involvement with horses, I have a vast knowledge of injuries, medicines and how to administer them effectively. Feed is of great importance to me and I place a lot of focus of each horses individual needs and work load. I pride myself on my horses condition and health and believe feed plays a big role in behavioural issues as well as the ability to perform the athletic task at hand. I'm very hands on with all the horses under my care, preferring to do my own bandaging, tacking up and handling where ever possible. One of my strongest attributes is a sharp eye for soundness and assessing what could be causing it. I believe a good relationship with a horses vet and farrier are paramount to keeping a horse sound and improving its longevity.

Specialities

I have worked with horses of all sexes and ages, specialising in Stallions in both ground work and under saddle training over the last 6 years. Stud stallions have been sent to to me to back and compete in order to represent their relevant stud. I have worked with a vast team over the years, delegating lunging, hacking and stable duties. Part of my role has been training staff to turn out for various competitions, handling a variety of horses and basic medical care.

Type of Ride Work

I have ridden horses from backing them up to a Prix St George Dressage level, started 1.40m show jumpers in their careers (jumping them up to 1m and training on the flat), Event horses, often taking them to their first events, giving them confidence over the different fences and water, older horses just needing their schooling maintained, childrens ponies (installing a safe and easy ride) and horses in rehab. I adjust my training for the horses purpose.

Competition Details

Being based in a top competition yard for the past 6 years, I have competed successfully at a National level in Dressage and Showing. I have represented teams in both Showing and Dressage and won multiple National titles in South Africa. Eventing is a big passion of mine and I've competed in lower level successfully however it has never been a primary focus. I have been invited to ride in both New Zealand and the UK for showing events.
