Duties of Current Occupation
Daily duties include feeding, mucking out, grooming, clipping, bandaging, braiding for shows, tacking up, washing off, and ensuring top care for show jumping horses before and after work.
Equine Work Experience
I have over three years of hands-on experience working at a top-level show jumping facility, where I was responsible for the full daily care of performance horses, including several high-level competition stallions. I was heavily involved in preparing horses for training and competition, both at home and at international shows. As an FEI-level groom, I am well-versed in competition grooming standards, equine first aid, and managing the wellbeing of elite sport horses under pressure. I’ve traveled for shows, handled veterinary and farrier appointments, and maintained a calm, professional demeanor in high-stress environments. My experience has taught me to recognize subtle signs of discomfort or illness in horses, ensuring early intervention and optimal health. I take great pride in always presenting horses to the highest standard. Working closely with riders, vets, and other staff, I’ve developed strong communication skills and a deep understanding of the needs for my horses.
Specialities
’ve worked with a variety of horses, including a few stallions, and have experience managing their specific needs. As an FEI-level groom, I’m familiar with international competition standards, horse travel preparation, and high-level turnout. I ensure each horse is cared for to the highest standard, both at home and at shows, supporting peak performance and wellbeing.
Type of Ride Work
I focus mainly on riding work, including exercise and conditioning rides. I incorporate flatwork to improve balance and responsiveness. I used to show jump years ago and still apply that experience.
Competition Details
Worked as an FEI 5* groom in both Canada and the United States, supporting riders and horses at top-level international competitions including Nations Cups, World Cup qualifiers, and 5* Grand Prix events. Responsible for the care, preparation, and logistics for elite show jumping horses. Duties included competition grooming, stable management, clipping, lunging, and ensuring all FEI regulations and standards were met.
