Bio
Taking a year off from school to work in the Equine Business. Looking for a paid live-in job starting in September.Qualifications
I have competed at local H/J shows, including Thunderbird Show Park, Southlands Riding Club, MREC, etc..
Duties of Current Occupation
I’ve been involved with horses for over 20 years and have experience in all aspects of daily stable management and horse care. I’ve both owned and leased horses, as well as worked in professional barns, mainly within the hunter/jumper discipline.
Equine Work Experience
I have been in the horse world for the greater good of my life. I love being involved in the tight knit community and enjoying good relations with my peers. I have owned my own horses as well as leased many horses. I have done clinics, lessons, camps and all the training from a young age but have taken a break due to working and school responsibilities. Key responsibilities and experience include:
Grooming, tacking up, and cooling down horses before and after rides
Mucking out stalls, feeding, turning in/out, and maintaining clean, organized stables
Exercising and schooling horses, including flatwork and light jumping
Assisting at shows with grooming, braiding, tack preparation, and horse handling
Monitoring horse health and condition, identifying and communicating any changes or concerns
Maintaining tack and equipment, keeping the yard tidy and presentable
Specialities
I have helped with barn management and facilitated a team with feeding/turning out times and schedules.
Type of Ride Work
I have ridden various horses of all ages. Flatwork, jumping, hunters are some of the areas I have focused on. I have worked with starting my own horse before with the help of my trainer and giving him a good solid base with regard to flatwork and horsemanship as a priority before moving into anything further. I believe that respect between the horse and rider are crucial in order to develop trust and a steady working relationship.
Competition Details
I have worked and competed in the local shows near my area as well as Thunderbird Show Park which is BC's major equestrian show hub. I have helped professionals with grooming their horses for showtime as well as shown my own horses throughout the years.
