Bachelors of Equine Science

Duties included exercising horses, assisting with veterinary procedures, handling mares, foals, and young stock, assisting with foaling, daily horse care and yard management.

I have recently completed a BSc in Equine Science. In my role at a riding school and livery yard, I exercised horses on the flat and over jumps up to 1 metre. My responsibilities included carrying out general yard duties such as feeding, mucking out, turning horses in and out, tacking up, and assisting with riding school lessons. I also worked on a stud farm and within an equine veterinary clinic, where I assisted with diagnostic procedures including radiography (X-rays), pre-purchase examinations (vettings), and ultrasound scans, as well as loading and unloading horses. In addition, I cared for competition showjumping ponies, undertaking duties such as lunging, grooming, tacking up, turning out, and general stable management. My stud farm experience involved handling mares and foals, working with young stock, assisting with breeding related activities , feeding, mucking out and overall yard maintenance.
