At Sleighduff, I carried out all general yard duties such as feeding, turning horses out and mucking out. I held horses for the vet and farrier and dosed oral medication where required. I was trained-up to use the water treadmill. I also lunged horses regularly and exercised horses on the flat as well as hacked out occasionally. I prepared horses for travelling to shows and away schooling, and attended some schooling trips and shows as a groom. At Godolphin, my role included mucking out, saddling horses for exercise, washing off horses post exercise, applying ice boots and bandages and bringing bringing horses to the pool. As a race-day groom I travelled with horses to race meetings and trials where I attended to their needs pre and post race and led them around the mounting yard. Prior to this, I worked intermittently as a yard person in a riding school and livery yard for eight years while attending secondary school and university.

Handling young sport-horses and thoroughbreds ranging from yearlings to 5+ year olds. Handling horses away from home, i.e. loading and unloading horses, tacking up, washing off, holding and leading horses in a competition and racing setting. Turning horses out to a high standard for race-days. Working on both large and small teams as well as sole-charge to ensure the smooth running of the yard. Liaising with livery clients to ensure their horses are cared for to the highest standard.

I have 17 years of riding experience. I have ample jumping, flatwork and hacking experience on my own horse (thoroughbred mare) and on a variety of ponies and cobs in the riding school. I have experience schooling young sport-horses on the flat through my time at Sleighduff. I have minimal experience riding competitively, but this is something I aim to increase.

At Godolphin worked as a race-day groom. I travelled with the horse to races (up to 3 hours from the yard). I looked after the horse in the stalls pre race where I worked to keep them settled while ensuring they were turned out to a high standard. When required, I brought horses to the vet area for bloods. I assisted the trainer with saddling, and lead horses around the parade ring. Post race, I washed and watered the horse, checked for injuries and travelled home with them.
