Equine Work Experience

Horseriding 15+ years (whole life). Grew up in a horsey family, a member of the Carlow pony club since 8 years old (2008) until 17. While in this pony club, I improved my at-home learning riding skills in a fun environment on my own ponies starting with small jumps and moving up to bigger fences. I did pony games on a 12 hand pony, the team competed at a national level. subsequently grew out of the 12-hand pony and got a 14.2-hand bay. With this pony, I competed in tetrathlons during the summer. This encompassed 4 events, running, swimming, target shooting, and cross-country riding. This tested my self-discipline, physical abilities, and stamina.I also competed at showjumping competitions at a local rising school 90cm and 1m. Notably winning a 90cm final, finishing 4th at 1m. While in secondary school (2012-2018) I competed for my school at inter-school team showjumping championships at (1m-1.5m) showjumping and senior hunter trail championships.

Specialities

Cross-country riding, hunter trails, and road work. Very experienced with hacking and have completed the pony club road safety test successfully. Can muck out and bed down stables efficiently as well as feed horses in stables. Experience handling thoroughbred mares and big horses. Transferable skills in working with kids and teenagers at English language learning camps. My calm energy is good for skittish horses. Able to school a horse on the flat. Basic on the bit dressage practice.

Type of Ride Work

The current horse I am riding is a 17-hand gelding that is 3/4 thoroughbred and 1/4 Irish draft by stallion Master Imp. (who produced Clover Hill, who jumped at Grand Prix level with Conal Swail)I have competed at riding school eventing competitions at the Intermediate level with this horse. I've also done Huntertrials, Showjumping and some Show classes.
