Qualifications
I have a degree in Equine science from University College Dublin and will continue my studies in Nottingham Trent University with a masters in research in equine performance. Through my work with ChildVision, I completed two courses of The Horse Boy Method conducted by Rupert Isaacson himself. This is a method of equine related therapy designed to enable children and adults on the autistic spectrum or those with learning disabilities to learn and express themselves in a stress free environment.
Duties of Current Occupation
I have started my research masters in equine performance in NTU in the Brackenhurst Campus.
Equine Work Experience
My most recent work was for a pet store, I ran the Equestrian section in this store. This involved processing all the weekly purchase orders from start to finish, merchandising stock, social media marketing through the Facebook page and fulfilling all customer orders and requests for any Equine-related stock. Prior to this I worked for a local Irish racehorse trainer for 3 years, so I have much experience with most kinds of horses (young and older). I have also ridden and owned horses all my life and recently sold a horse that I took on for schooling as a jumper. As a teenager, I donated two of my horses to and worked closely with a local charity riding school, ChildVision. They worked doing therapeutic riding lessons for children with visual impairments some of whom also have profound sensory impairments and additional disabilities.
Specialities
I am an extremely tidy and hard worker and any of my previous employers can and will attest to that. I work efficiently but effectively. I was regularly trusted in supervising the new staff member's when working for Sarah Lynam. And she entrusted me to run her yard without her supervision in the evenings. I have worked with a wide range of stock, including young racehorses and older horses. I have no problem working on my own or in a team and am very happy to take criticism and build off of it.
Type of Ride Work
With my own horses I did mainly hacking, flat work, lunging and jumping. In the racing yard, I mainly did trotting work and some cantering.
